MSAE members include professionals
representing trade organizations, professional societies, association
management companies, chambers of commerce, charitable organizations and
foundations. They include chief staff executives, senior staff,
department heads and staff specialists interested in professional
development and networking.
MSAE also offers supplier membership for providers of products and
services looking to build relationships with association professionals.
Supplier members range from hotels, to printers, to technology service
providers.
Membership
Criteria
Association membership
is available to any individual who
spends more than 50 percent of his or her time in a managerial, executive, or administrative
capacity in a local, state, territorial, national, or international trade, professional,
technical, educational, philanthropic, or similar type voluntary membership organization.
Individual memberships are portable with the individual.
Association/corporate membership
is available to any organization
engaged in the activities described above. An organization may list five individuals
to receive MSAE membership benefits.
Those individuals are treated as individual
members with the same privileges as individual association members. The individual
listings are transferable within the organization.
Service supplier membership
is available to any person who
represents a firm or corporation offering products or services to
organizations of the nature described above. Service supplier
members are entitled to all privileges of membership except that of voting
and holding elective office.
Service supplier/corporate membership
is available to any
company engaged in the activities described above. A company may list three individuals
to receive MSAE membership benefits.

MSAE Programs and Member Benefits
MSAE delivers
professional development and access to a network of your peers in an
easy-to-access, local package. Here are some of our programs and
benefits.
MSAE Annual Meeting & Expo: The
premier event in Maryland’s association community, MSAE’s Annual Meeting
& Expo combines educational and networking opportunities with an
exposition of association products and services.
MSAE members register at reduced rates.
MSAE Educational Meetings: From September through May, MSAE
provides a variety of networking and educational programs. These events
range from seminars on topics of critical importance to association
managers, to social events designed to enhance MSAE’s networking
benefit. MSAE members register at reduced
rates.
www.mdsae.org: MSAE’s web site provides access to MSAE
information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Keep current on MSAE
news, register for MSAE events, search for a job or find products and
services in MSAE’s online buyers guide. MSAE
members also have access to MSAE’s online membership directory,
listserve and archives of association information.
Executive Branch: MSAE’s newsletter for members only. The latest
news in Maryland’s association community delivered in a convenient,
efficient electronic package.
MSAE Listserve: Available to MSAE members only, the listserve
puts MSAE’s networking benefit at your fingertips 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
CAE Study Group: MSAE provides mentoring for association
executives preparing for ASAE’s Certified Association Executive (CAE)
exam. Conducted in accordance with ASAE guidelines, MSAE mentors guide
students through this six-week preparatory program.
The study group is free to MSAE members.
Circle of Excellence Awards: MSAE’s Circle of Excellence Awards
recognize top-quality work in all aspects of association management. For
award winners, they provide valuable third-party recognition to help
members and volunteer leaders appreciate their work. For everyone, the
Circle of Excellence provides a source of ideas proven to work well in
association management. MSAE members
participate at reduced rates.
